Virginia Ann Dykes Dasher, 89, of Valdosta, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021 in Asheville, NC. She was born in Adel, GA on November 11, 1931 to the late George Clifton Dykes and Icyphene Parrish Dykes. She moved to Valdosta as a child and graduated from Valdosta High School in the late 1940’s. She attended River Street Church of Christ and met her husband of 69 years, Johnnie Dasher there and they were married in the church in 1951. As they began their family they moved for Mr. Dasher’s job to several places in the Southeast before settling in Gainsville, FL. During those years she was a homemaker, raising her children. Then in the early 1960’s she went to work for Citizen’s Bank in Gainesville, and she worked in the banking business until her retirement in the early 1990’s. Following her retirement, they moved back to this area in 1995. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and attended Lake Park Church of Christ and most recently Dasher Church of Christ. She enjoyed creating pottery and other crafting with her friends. She also enjoyed playing cards with friends.
Mrs. Dasher is survived by her son Gordon Dasher, of Swannanoa, NC, her son and daughter in law, Donald and Gail Dasher, of Newberry, FL, her daughter and son in law, Nancy and Richard Folsom, of Tallahassee, her grandchildren, Melissa (Ben) Adkins, of Swannanoa, NC, Jonathan (Asia) Dasher, of Trenton, FL, Zach (Jill) Dasher, of Black Mountain, NC, Wayne Dasher, of Melbourne, FL, Melanie (Trey) Harper, of Harlan, KY, Grant (Jessica) Dasher, of Montreat, NC, Cliff (Rachel) Folsom, of Houston, TX; seventeen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Johnnie Dasher, infant daughter Meloda Ann Dasher, daughter in law Jan Dasher, sisters Sue Warren, and Lena Bosch, and brother Jimmy Dykes.
A graveside service will be held at 10am on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Sunset Hill Cemetery with Mr. Don Dasher, Mr. Zach Dasher and Mr. Charlie Copeland officiating.
