Virgil Leon Moore

Virgil Leon Moore, 69, of Valdosta, died on Friday, February 19, 2010, after a brief illness. He was born in Naylor, to the late Frank Hershel Moore and Gertrude Hall Moore. Mr. Moore lived his entire life in Lowndes County, was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and was retired from Harvey's Bakery and Sorrell's and Martin TV repair.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Stevens Moore of Valdosta; four children, daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Terry Hawke, of Hahira: son and daughter-in-law, Virgil and Stacey Moore II, Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Andy Stewart of Jackson, GA.; son and daughter-in-law Clay and Ani Jones of Buford, SC.; 8 grandchildren; Joshua Hawke, Samuel Hawke, Shelbie Moore, Cole Moore, Saralyn Moore, Kyle Moore, David Jones and Amelia Jones; brother and sister-in-law, Robert (Bobby) Moore and Phyllis Moore, of Valdosta, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his wife, Joan H. Moore and sister, Evelyn Hawthorne.

Memorial services for Mr. Moore will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at New Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Fountain and Rev Ray Calvin officiating.
