Virgil Lee Rowland, 79, of Morven passed away at Presbyterian Home in Quitman on Friday, April 28, 2017. He was born in Sparks, Georgia on October 27, 1937 to the late Jack and Kathleen Martin Rowland. Virgil attended Morrison Baptist Church. He served in the Airforce four years. Virgil enjoyed working with wood and had a green thumb. He was a true southern man who could do anything that he put his hands to.
Virgil is survived by his wife Peggy Rowland of Morven, sons Jeff and Pam Rowland of Warner Robins and Corey Rowland of Sevierville, Tennessee, daughter Melissa and Gregory Pangburn of Delray Beach, Florida, stepson Terry and Cristy Hall of Brooks County, stepdaughter Tonia and Bob Denman of Cook County, grandchildren Christian and Heather Rowland, Justin and Rebecca Platt, and Cody Rowland, step-grandchildren Matthew Hall, Michael Hall, and Shelby Denman, step-great-grandchildren Zane Hall and Remy Hall, brother Gene Rowland of Fort Pierce, Florida, sisters Betty Jean and John David Belcher and Dorothy and James Tucker both of Quitman. Virgil is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Earl Rowland, Cleve Rowland, and Jack Rowland, and one sister Robbie Nelle Sturgis.
Visitation will be held at Martin McLane Funeral Home from 6 – 8 P.M., Sunday, April 30, 2017. Funeral services will be held at Martin McLane Chapel at 2:00 P.M., Monday, May 1, 2017 with Brother Bob Willis officiating. He will be laid to rest at Campground Cemetery in Brooks County.
