Virgil Bynum, Jr.

July 19, 1929 — February 11, 2008

Virgil Bynum, Jr. 78, of Valdosta, died on Monday, February 11, 2008 at Langdale Hospice House following a short illness. Formerly of Greenville, SC and born in Ft. Valley to the late Virgil and Jackie Teece Bynum, he had lived in this area for the past two years. Mr. Bynum graduated from Valdosta High School in 1948 and is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. In 1982 he retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company, having served for 30 years and volunteered for Hospice of South Georgia and South Georgia Medical Center prior to his death. He was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three sons and daughters in law, David & Carol Bynum of Monticello, FL, Daniel & Carolyn Bynum, of DuPont, and Robert & Chris Bynum of Charleston, SC; and a brother, Eddie Bynum of Valdosta. Mr. Bynum is preceded in death by his wife, Donnie Virginia Bynum and a son Randall Bynum.

A private graveside committal of the cremains will be held by the family later at Sunset Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of South Georgia, 2263 Pineview Dr. Valdosta, GA 31602.
