Violet Pitchen Carson

June 4, 1920 — September 13, 2009

Violet Pitchen Carson, 89, died of Sunday, September 13, 2009. Mrs. Carson was a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was a retired WWII Army Nurse and is preceded in death by her husband, Colonel Russell V. Carson. Mrs. Carson had lived in Valdosta for more than thirty years before moving to the Atlanta area with her daughters.

Survivors include her daughters, Mary Chaney of Valdosta, Karen Howell of Dacula and Cathy Carson of Acworth, sister, Sylvia Pfeiffer of Phoenix, AZ., grandchildren, Christa Condon, Jonathon Wetherington, Gregory Howell, Megan Howell, Amanda Taylor and Ben Taylor, great grandchildren, Abiggail Wetherington, Anable Wetherington and Rachel Wetherington.

Memorial services will be held at 2pm, Saturday, September 25, 2009 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Father Dan O'Connell officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1pm until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or the Arthritis Foundation. Carson McLane Funeral Home.
