Verna Pierce Cornelius

Verna Pierce Cornelius, 92, of Valdosta died Friday, November 4, 2016, after a lengthy illness, She was born in Lowndes County on October 26, 1924 to the late John Wright Pierce Sr. and Margaret Tomlinson Pierce. She was a retired Pediatric Nurse with South Georgia Medical Center.

Survivors include a daughter and a son in law, Michele & Jack Keesee of Alto, GA; granddaughter, Lisa Poole (Stephen) of Lula, GA: two grandchildren, Morgan & Camdyn Poole; a brother and sister-in-law, Eugene Pierce (Georgiana) of Mayday; special niece, Gail Deacon and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Tony Cornelius and grandson, Paul Keesee.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Wayne Boykin officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Georgia, 41 Perimeter Center East, suite 550, Atlanta, GA 30346.
