Vera Griffin Wetherington

Vera Griffin Wetherington, 84, of Valdosta, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012 in Gainesville, Fl following a short illness. She was born on January 24, 1928, in Berrien County, the daughter of the late Walton and Cora McClellan Griffin. Mrs. Wetherington was a Pink Lady at South Georgia Medical Center and she was a member of Unity Primitive Baptist Church.
Mrs. Wetherington is survived by a daughter, Sylvia Little of Powder Springs, a daughter and son-in-law, Shelba and Steve Stephens of Hahira; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Barbara Wetherington of Valdosta; a daughter-in-law, Carol Wetherington of Boston; also surviving are six grandchildren, Britt and Tracy Wetherington of Boston, Robin Wetherington of Dawsonville, Chris and Elizabeth Farist of Southaven, MS., Cindy and Chris Sheehy of Portland, OR., Mary Ellen and Steven Brogdon of Nashville, Tracy and Daryl Smith of Hahira; eight great-grandchildren, Jessica Farist, Joshua Farist, Hannah Farist, Carter Brogdon, Parker Brogdon, Laura Leigh Smith, Cooper Smith and Witt Wetherington; a sister, Vernell Vaughn of West Berrien community; a brother and sister-in-law, Leaouns Griffin (Mattie Jean) of West Berrien community; and 20 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Dewitt Wetherington, a son, Jimmy D. Wetherington and two sisters and a brother.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wetherington will be held 10:00am Monday, April 2, 2012 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Elder Jim Sandlin, Elder Jim Smith and Elder Charles Tyson officiating. Burial l will follow in Mt. Paron Cemetery in Berrien County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday.
