Veda Staten Dozier, 70, of Valdosta, died Monday, June 9, 2008 at Crestwood Nursing Home. Born on July 3, 1937, in Greenville, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late James W. and Leona Patterson Staten. Mrs. Dozier was a homemaker and a member of Unity Sabbath Day Church of God.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, William B., Jr. and Judy Dozier, Rita Diana Hutto, all of Morven, Rachel Lynn and Eddie Black of Valdosta, Jennifer Elaine Dozier of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, William B. Dozier, III, James Matthew Dozier, Christopher John Black, Tiffany Renee Black, Edward Riley Black, Jr. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Linda Staten of Morven, Evert W. and Faye Staten of Adel; sisters and brother-in-law, Ramona and Ed Powers of Morven, Alene Lynch of Morven, Millie Phillips of Hahira; numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Dozier was preceded in death by her husband, William B. "Dub" Dozier, Sr., grandsons, Allen Jerome Dozier and Christopher Dewayne Dozier.
Services will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, June 12, 2008 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Billy Latham officiating. A committal will take place at Friendship Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends on Thursday one hour prior to the service.
