Veda Beth (Nanny) Fanning, 78, of Valdosta passed away from this life to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Crestwood Nursing Home. Born Veda Beth Pelfrey on September 27, 1935 in Maysville, Oklahoma she was the daughter of the late Fred Pelfrey and Katy Gillespie. She had lived and worked for many years in Big Lake, Texas owning and operating an answering service to the oilfield industry before moving to Valdosta to retire. She enjoyed many faithful years serving as a children's Sunday school teacher in Texas. Her hobbies and interests included; crocheting, sewing and gardening. She was a member of the Central Avenue Church of Christ and loved being involved with the ladies Tuesday morning Bible classes and also being a part of the ladies Flower Group.
Veda is survived by her husband, Joseph Robert Fanning of Valdosta; a son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Petra Prince of Valdosta; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Sherman Prince, her parents, two brothers and one son, Michael Darnell Prince.
A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 1 p.m. in Central Avenue Church of Christ, 304 E. Central Avenue, Valdosta, Georgia with Bryan Jarvis officiating. Flowers will be accepted at the Central Avenue Church of Christ on Friday, November 15, 2013 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.
