VaLeta Watson, 74 of Lake Park, died on Thursday, March 31, 2005 at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman after a lengthy illness. Born on November 13, 1930 in Lowndes County, she was the daughter of the late Otis and Clyde Lucille Shierling Tapley. She was a retired switchboard operator for Templeton Nursing Homes and a member of Greenwood Baptist Church.
Survivors are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jon Allen Johnson of Nashville, TN, Robert and Teresa Hudson of Valdosta; a daughter and son-in-law, Sybil Johnson and Roy Rogers of Jasper, FL; grandchildren, April, Denise, Jennifer, Meagan, Stephanie, Brandie and Austin; 8 great grandchildren; a sister, Melba T. Storey of Thomaston; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, T. L. (Buddy) Watson, her daughter, Tammy Lea Hudson and a brother, Bernard Tapley.
Funeral services for VaLeta Watson will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2005 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Dr. Wallace DeLoach will officiate. Interment will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
