Valentine Shirley Brown, 64, of Jennings, Florida died on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at South Georgia Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on February 14, 1953 to the late Alfred Chong and Shirley Souza. She was of the Baptist faith and was a retired pediatric nurse. She was a kind and caring person with a big heart and was known for being in tune and sensitive to the needs of her patients and was actively involved in the treatment and continuing care of her “kids”. Val was also actively involved with the Pearlman Cancer Center. She loved her husband, her boys, and family, extended family, and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Randall Lee Brown of Jennings; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Randy and Natalie Hughes of Lake Park and Brandon Hughes of Statenville; her granddaughter, Summer Hughes of Lake Park; two step-sons and their spouses, Gregg and Lee Brown of Valdosta, and David and Erin Thompson of Hahira; step-grandchildren, Jacson Thompson, Chase Thompson, Tanner Brown, Baylee Brown, Charlee Rae Brown, and Cullen Brown; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Roslynn and James Carter of Statenville, Genelda and Jack Taylor of Statenville, and Debbie and Charles Mercer of Valdosta; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Debbie Hughes of Dasher; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Valentine Shirley Brown will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Sayre officiating.
