V. J. Hendry

V. J. Hendry, 80, of Hahira, died Wednesday, May 21, 2008 in Adel. He was born on October 20, 1927 in Berrien County to the late John and Henrietta Dupree Hendry. Mr. Hendry was a retired farmer, served in the United States Army and served six years in the Merchant Marines. He was a Baptist.

Mr. Hendry is survived by his wife, Jean Powell Hendry of Hahira, seven sons and three daughters in law, Virgil Lee Hendry, Roy Hendry, James and Nadine Hendry, all of Valdosta, Carroll Hendry and Ira and Tracy Hendry of Lakeland, Victor and Jennifer Hendry of Las Vegas and Timmy Powell of Hahira, nine daughters and seven sons in law, Linda and Ricky Terrell, Faye and John Thomas, Anne and Shawn Bowles, all of Valdosta, Cathy and Brian Murphy of Waycross, Kimberly Dales of Lakeland, Brenda and Jay Hawkins and Tanya and Shawn Boyer and Cheryl Matthews of Adel and Linda and James Smith of Hahira, forty seven grandchildren, thirty three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and two close friends, Simmie King and Herschel Griffin.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 24, 2008 at eleven a. m. at the graveside in Beaver Dam Cemetery in Ray City, GA. The family will receive friends from three until five p. m.
