Ulmer B. McCranie, 96, of Valdosta, died Saturday, June 4, 2005 at Fellowship Home. He was born on September 28, 1908 in Cook County, GA to the late William Henry and Roxie Mullis McCranie. Mr. McCranie was a civil engineer, a World War II United States Navy Veteran, a member of Northside Baptist Church and a Mason. He had lived in Valdosta since 1978 and was formerly of St. Simons, Macon and Moultrie, GA.
He is survived by one daughter and son in law, Rosalyn Janice and Eldon Rudolph Crosby of Valdosta, three grandchildren, Sheila Cammin, James M. Cammin, Machele and John Touchton, two great grandchildren, Sara Beth and Henry Allen Touchton, two sisters, Evelyn Mathews of Vidalia and Carolyn Martin of Macon, several nieces and nephews. Mr. McCranie is preceded in death by his wife, Irma Lee Truett McCranie and two brothers, William Henry McCranie and George Hubert McCranie.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at Northside Baptist Church with Reverend Rick Stevens and Reverend Bob Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn City Cemetery in Adel with Masonic rites at the graveside. He will lie in state in the church for one hour prior to service time. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p. m. Monday at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Northside Baptist Church building fund or to Odyssey Hospice.
