Tommy L. Adkins, Sr.

Tommy L. Adkins, Sr., 76, of Valdosta died Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at his home. He was born in Nashville, GA on May 3, 1938 to the late Jackson Leroy Adkins & Lillie Ida Elizabeth Akins Adkins. He was a retired precision machinist at Lowndes Engineering. Mr. Adkins was also a member of Gideons, a formerDeacon of Bemiss Road Baptist Church, Sunday School Teacher and gave his life to Christ at the age of 26.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Adkins of Valdosta, his four sons and two daughters in law, Tommy Adkins, Jr. and Terry of Tallahassee, FL, Danny L. Adkins and Debbie of Siler City, NC, Everett Adkins of Adel, GA and Tim Hinton of Valdosta; two daughters and sons in law, Terri D. and Greg Smith of Perry, GA and Laura and Buck Carter of Valdosta. He is also survived by two brothers and sisters in law, Charles and Sharon Adkins of Boston, GA, Glenn and Brenda Adkins of Valdosta; three brothers in law and sisters in law, Daniel and Neva McGuffey of Tipton, MI, Bob and Pat Farmer, Ron and Dian Farmer all of Rockledge, FL and Mike and Donna Farmer of Moultrie, GA; twenty grandchildren, eight great grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and a large extended family. Along with his parents, Mr. Adkins was preceded in death by his father in law and mother in law, Basil and Ima Farmer.
Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2015 in the Carson McLane Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Carlton Allen officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 3 – 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
