Tomie Jean Roberts Blanton

Tomie Jean Roberts Blanton passed away at home on Saturday, June 24, 2017, after several years of declining health. She was born on October 27, 1928, in Valdosta, Georgia, and had lived in this area all of her life. She was a graduate of the University of Georgia. Mrs. Blanton was a life-long member of First Baptist Church. She was also a member of DAR, Phi Mu Alumnae, Cotillion Club (sustaining member) and Mystery Club.

She is survived by her children, Vallye Blanton, Charlotte and George (Bubba) Thomas, and Ben R. and Jan Blanton of Valdosta and Becky and Mike Manley of Tallahassee, Florida; her grandchildren, Curry and Brian Anderson and Rob Blanton of Valdosta, Brooks and Jamey Vizzini of Peachtree City, Sloan Blanton of Denver, Colorado, and Sam Manley of Tallahassee, Florida; her great grandchildren, Brooker, Paxton and Anice Anderson of Valdosta and Lanier and Quinn Vizzini of Peachtree City; her sister and brother-in-law, Marion Anice and George (Red) Cross of Valdosta, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Ben Hill and Maude Roberts and her husband Louie Sloan Blanton.
The family would like to thank her many caregivers and especially Valerie Smith, Mildred McGee, Margaret Bennett, Genice McGee, Lisa Williams and Carnitha Washington.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 26 at Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Brian D. Anderson and Rev. Jamey M. Vazzini officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A family graveside service will be held prior to the funeral at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
