Timothy Robert McLeod, 80, of Valdosta, died on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at his residence following a brief illness. Born in Valdosta on July 11, 1938 to the late Tom & Bernice McLeod, he has been a lifelong resident of Valdosta. Tim graduated in 1957 from Valdosta High School and went on to attend the Citadel in Charleston, SC. He then served briefly on active duty in the U.S. Army and after that for several more years in the Georgia National Guard. Following his time in the Army, he returned to Valdosta and began a career in the U.S. Postal Service. He worked for several years on different routes before being named the Post Master of Ray City. After retiring from the Postal Service, he then worked for the State of Georgia as a Corrections Officer at Valdosta State Prison for over 10 years, before beginning work in security at Packaging Corporations of America (PCA) in Clyattville. He worked at PCA up to the current year and was scheduled to retire next week. He was a member of First Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Studstill McLeod of Valdosta, two daughters, Elaine Graves Miller of Charlotte, NC and Georgia Graves Henderson and her husband Terry of Denver, CO; five grandchildren, James Robert Miller, Zachary Thomas Miller and Sara Katherine Miller, all of Charlotte, NC, William Logan Henderson and Luke George Henderson, both of Denver, CO. Also surviving are a sister & brother in law, Martha & Jimmy Lowe of Lake Park; a brother and sister in law, John & Ollie McLeod of Valdosta, and several nieces and nephews. Tim is preceded in death by his parents and his parents in law, James & Sara Studstill.
A memorial service for Mr. McLeod will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Rev. Ron Hatchett, Rev. Chuck Owens and Rev. Dennis Massey will officiate along with members of Mr. McLeod’s family. The family will receive friends in the chapel from 10 am until service time.
