Timmons (Gene) Scott, 74, of Lowndes County, died on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Langdale Hospice House following a brief illness. He was born in Augusta, Georgia on December 7, 1934 to the late Richard and Beatrice Carey Scott. He was retired from Winn Dixie company as a meat market manager and was recently working part-time in the bookkeeping office for Precision Tune Auto Care. Mr. Scott was formerly the Minister of Music for Forest Street United Methodist Church and had conducted numerous evangelistic services in the state for many years. Mr. Scott was a member of the First Church of The Nazarene.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Peggy Jean Scott of Lowndes County; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Betty Scott of Lowndes County and Randy and Robin Scott of Hueytown, Alabama; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Mike Harrington of Lowndes County, Renee and Randal Hall of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Sandy and Tim Howard of Covington, Georgia; grandchildren, Jeremy and Katharine Scott of Lowndes County, Jana Scott of Lowndes County, Daniel, Rebekah and Samantha Scott of Hueytown, Alabama, Tiffany McClain of Gainesville, Florida, Evan and Hope Smithwick of Lowndes County, Chris Albritton, KC Harrington, Kristin Harrington all of Atlanta, Georgia, Amelia Hall and Zachary Girard of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Melissa and Matthew Howard and Karli and Corbin Buckelew all of Covington, Georgia; one great-grandchild, Caleb Harrington of Atlanta, Georgia; a brother, Edward Scott of Martinez, Georgia; a sister, Marguerite Corey of Elmira, New York; and extended family, Leo and Sue Teel and their children Savannah and Nathanael Teel all of Jefferson, Georgia, and Dave and Sherry Goldsberry and their children Mary Lauren, Makayla and Madison Goldsberry all of Ray City. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Adell Howard, and two brothers, Rudolph Scott and Robert Scott.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the First Church of The Nazarene with Pastor Mike Scott and Pastor Randy Scott officiating. The burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at McLane Funeral Home.
