Thomas Edward Parnell, Jr.

Thomas Edward Parnell, Jr. 63, of Valdosta passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021. He was born in Greenville, Mississippi on May 26, 1957 to the late Thomas Edward, Sr. and Elizabeth Roxanna Stennis Parnell and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Tom was retired from Valdosta State University where he worked in Plant Operations for 22 years and attended Morningside Baptist Church. Tom was a graduate of Lowndes High School and received a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Valdosta State University in the Fall of 2002. He loved nothing more than watching his children and grandchildren play soccer and dance. Tom was a larger-than-life person with a smart wit and relentlessly strong exterior and warm caring personality. He was always willing to help others with an odd job, words of wisdom, or a warm hug. More than anything he loved his bride, Pam.
Survivors include his wife, Pam Parnell of Valdosta; two sons, Mitchell Ashley Parnell, Sr. of Valdosta, Matthew Turner Parnell and Ariel Allen of Knoxville, TN; two grandchildren, Morgan Alyvia Parnell and Mitchell Ashley Parnell, Jr. both of Valdosta; two sisters and brothers in law, Roxanna and Michael Golden of Thomasville, Beth and Gary Wanzong of Seattle, WA.
Funeral services will be held at 4pm, Friday, January 8, 2021 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Robertson officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
