With much sadness we announce the passing of Theo Reed, our loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandma (Grand) and delightful friend to all whose lives she touched. Theo passed away peacefully at her home on March 2nd, 2022 surrounded by family. Born on July 5th, 1926 in Elbert, CO to Frank and Elsie Gabardi.
Theo spent her childhood in Colorado and graduated from the University of Colorado with a nursing degree in 1946. She married Glenn Reed in 1949 and had two daughters. She wore many hats throughout her nursing career; RN, author, nurse practitioner. Theo retired while working at Lake City VA Medical Center in 1998. Theo was an avid international traveler. She also loved traveling across the US in an RV with her sister, Kina. Theo had a great appreciation for nature and enjoyed working in her garden. Her expertise in all of these areas will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glenn Reed, and her sister, Caroline (Kina) DePriest. Theo is survived by her daughters and their husbands Patricia and Ron Bezona, Paula and BJ Kurjack; grandchildren Tammy (Jeff) Bezona Walden, Patti (Bryan) Bezona Loop and Jeff (Janel) Bezona; and great grandchildren Georgia and Reed Walden, Hannah and Jacob Bezona. As well as her beloved Shih Tzu, Bebee.
A memorial service will be held at 4pm on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Christ Episcopal Church, 1521 N. Patterson Street, Valdosta, GA 31602. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com Carson McLane Funeral Home
While Theo loved flowers and a beautiful garden, her family asked that gifts in Theo’s memory be made to Hospice of South Georgia or Christ Episcopal Church.
