Stan White died December 20, 2020. He was born May 9,1962 in Dothan, Alabama and lived in Florida, Arizona, and California before settling with his parents in Valdosta when he was six years old.
He has been an Episcopal Priest and Rector of Christ the King Episcopal Church in Valdosta for thirty years. Before that, he served as a non-denominational and Assemblies of God pastor. Stan and the congregation’s journey into the Episcopal Church have been featured in Christianity Today, The Living Church, a PBS documentary on religion in America entitled "Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory,” and A History of the Episcopal Church by Robert W. Prichard. He has been the keynote speaker for numerous church conferences, including the International Worship Symposium, and the Episcopal Church's Evangelism Commission.
His parishioners will remember his love for them, as well as his passion for spirituality, racial reconciliation, eclectic styles of music, and his preaching which always celebrated love, diversity, justice, and compassion. He was proud that Christ the King has sponsored many people for ordination, who now serve in churches around the country, still shaped by their experience with him.
He is survived by his children, Sarah Nelson (Jake), Skyler Maher, M.D. (Robby), Nicholas White, and Isabella White; his wife, Michelle Lane and step-children, David, Olivia, and Joel Kirkland; grandchildren, Jakson, Luke, and Anna Claire Nelson and baby Maher soon to be born; parents, The Rev. Jimmy and Anne White; brother, The Rev. Michael White (the Rev. Helen); uncle, Matthew Ward (Larry Barton); nephews, Ethan and Jay White.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, clergy colleagues, community members, parishioners, and the countless people who have been shaped by his lifetime of ministry.
