Tharan Eugene (Buck) Connell

THARAN EUGENE “BUCK” CONNELL, 89, of Valdosta died Monday, January 30, 2006 at his home. He was born in Barwick on December 20, 1916 to the late William Cleveland and Elizabeth Beatrice Little Connell and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Mr. Connell was a retired forester and land surveyor with Langdale Forestry Products after 38 years of service and a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Professional Engineers and Surveyors, Society of American Foresters and Society of Professional Realtors. Mr. Connell was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in World War II.

Survivors include Mrs. Evelyn Padgett of Jasper, Fla. three sons and daughter in law, Tharan Eugene Connell, Jr., Robert Howard Connell and Patricia Meyers, William Greg and Valina Connell all of Valdosta, four grandchildren, Jessie Larae Connell, Robert Tharan Connell, William Abram Connell and Sara Elizabeth Connell, two sisters, Gloria Kinlaw of Decatur and Sylvia Jones of Thomasville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edwina McKinnon Connell.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Saturday, February 4, 2006 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Phil West, Rev. Mac Weaver and Rev. Mickey Corbett officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 7-9pm at the funeral home.
