Terry Daniel

Terry Daniel, 82, of Valdosta, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024 at Fellowship Home. He was born on July 2, 1941, to the late Carl Eugene Daniel and Estelle Phillips Daniel Smith. He grew up in Plains, Americus, and Valdosta. Terry graduated from Sumpter County High School in Americus where he played many sports but baseball was his passion. In high school, he was the lead singer in the band “The Originals” where he wrote and recorded an album. He was and is still the only male cheerleader for Sumpter County High School. Terry then went on to graduate from GA SW college and played baseball there also. Terry received his medical technician degree, going on to work at Med Center in Columbus, GA as a lab director for 4 years. While in Columbus, he met the former Brenda Hendry and they started dating. Terry and Brenda were married in Perry, Florida on April 28, 1963. They then moved to Middle Georgia Hospital in Macon where he was the lab director for 5 years. In 1970, Terry started working for Bayer in a sales position in Macon. They moved him to Lakeland, FL and then to Atlanta. In 1979, he was promoted to Regional Manager, and they moved to Houston and they stayed there for 10 years. Then in 1989, the Daniel’s moved to Valdosta where Terry worked as Regional Director. He retired in 1996 from Bayer. After retirement, in the mid 1990’s, Terry started working as the ticket manager for the Valdosta Wildcats. He served in this capacity for 19 years. Everybody knew who the ‘Ticket Man’ was. He retired from this role in 2015. He was inducted into the Wildcat Hall of Fame. Terry was a Shriner, active while in Texas. He enjoyed being outside and playing golf. 

Terry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Brenda Daniel, of Valdosta; his daughter and son-in-law, Becky and John Higgins, of Peachtree City, GA; his grandchildren, Courtney Higgins, of Auburn, AL, and Trevor Higgins, of Dallas, TX; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Phil Daniel.

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Dennis Massie, Reverend Chuck Owens, and Dr. Curt Dodd officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11am prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Valdosta Touchdown Club, First Baptist Church, and Crossroads Baptist Church.
