Terry Austin Corbett

October 25, 1945 — March 15, 2011

Terry Austin Corbett, 65, of Echols County died on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born in Valdosta on October 25, 1945 to the late Austin and Wynell Kinsey Corbett and has been a lifelong resident of this area. He retired from PCA as a wood yard supervisor and was a member of Unity Primitive Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, daddy and pa. He greatly enjoyed reading his Bible, fishing with his grandchildren, and watching them play sports.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dorothy Joe Corbett; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Lisa Corbett; daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Mark Barrett and Melissa and Rocky Crosby; grandchildren, Colby and Taylor Corbett, Dylan, Tanner, and Makayla Barrett, and Colton and Keelee Crosby all of Echols County; three sisters, Juanita Holder (Clarence) of Echols County, Shelby Phillips (Eddie) of Lake Park, Phyllis Suggs (Wayne) of Echols County; three brothers, Alton Corbett (Mary) of Jennings Florida, Phillip Corbett (Linda) of Echols County, and his twin, Jerry Corbett (Debbie) of Lake Park; mother-in-law, Gwynnette Sandlin; brothers-in-law, Wayne Sandlin (Norma), Buck Sandlin (Shirley), Jim Sandlin (Dale), all of Echols County, Pete Sandlin (Deanne) of Lake Park, Bob Sandlin (Rhonda), Don Sandlin (Connie) and Glen Isgro all of Echols County; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dalton Corbett, a sister, Annette Howard, his father-in-law, Joe Sandlin, Jr., and sister-in-law, Susie Isgro.

Services for Terry Austin Corbett will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the Sardis Baptist Church in Echols County with Elder Jim Smith, Elder Jim Sandlin and Brother Garvie Nichols officiating. The burial will follow in the Carter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park.
