Terri Jones

Terri Jones, 67, of Valdosta, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at her home, with her family by her side. Born in Tampa, FL to the late Robert Wayne Ellison, Jr. and Lillian Clara Johnson Ellison on October 31, 1957. Terri spent her earliest years in Savannah but moved to Valdosta during her school days. She graduated from Valdosta High School in 1975 and was Salutatorian of her class. During high school, she started dating Ernie Jones and they were married March 14, 1976. In these early years, she worked briefly at M&M Music here in Valdosta, but Ernie was soon called to be a Pastor and Terri assisted him as the pastor’s wife. They served Morrison Baptist Church in Barney, then Westside Baptist in Adel before returning to Valdosta to serve Westside Baptist here. Their final church was Faceville Baptist Church in Bainbridge, before retiring and moving back to Valdosta. Terri’s passion was babies and children, consistently serving the Lord in the area of children’s ministry and often began these ministries in the churches they served in.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Pastor Ernie Jones of Valdosta, two sons and daughters in law, Derrick & Sarah Jones of Adel and Jason & Jessica Jones of Valdosta: six grandchildren, Bailey (& Nina) Jones, Connor Jones, Justen Fourie, Asher Jones, Callan Jones and Aria Jones and two great grandchildren, Paisley Jones and Harper Jones. Also surviving are her sister, Dianne Ellison of Dothan, AL; her brother, Wayne Ellison of Tallahassee, FL; two sisters in law, Marilyn Clanton & Cheryl (& Bill) Mote and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her daughter Carrie Jones.

A memorial service will be held for Terri in the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home at 2 pm on Thursday, April 3, 2025. Pastor Mike Albritton will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 pm until service time on Thursday.
