Ted Wayne Rodgers, 71, of Valdosta died at his residence on Monday, March 21, 2016 following a lengthy illness. He was born on May 8, 1944 in Valdosta to the late Bill and Florence Bonnell Rodgers. He graduated as Valedictorian of Lowndes High School and went on to graduate with honors from Georgia Tech. Ted was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt. He was a retired chemical engineer with the Clariant Corporation and was a member of Beth Adoni congregation in Virginia.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Phelps Rodgers of Valdosta; two daughters and a son-in-law, Wendy Lynn and Larry Hartung of Galax, Virginia, and Jennifer Rodgers of Rome, Georgia; two step-daughters and their spouses, Tammy and Tommy Ellington of Fitzgerald, Georgia and Christy and Anthony Baker of Athens, Georgia; a step-son and his wife, Tim and Keely Ryan of Grand Bay, Alabama; grandchildren and their spouses, Jessica Edwards, Jonathan Edwards, Farrah Baker, Jon Baker, Kayla Baker, Uriah Baker Brittni and Blake Deal, Brooke and Billy Geelsin, Blair and Ben Floyd, and T.J. Ryan; great-grandchildren, Aiden Wallace, Bailey Brit Deal, and Anderson Boykin, and Daniel Ryan; brother and sister-in-law, Andrew Paul (Andy) and Ann Rodgers of Hahira; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Jean Rodgers Smith and Earl Daniel Smith and Sandra Rodgers Daugherty and Steve Daugherty of Valdosta; two brothers and a sister-in-law, William Russell (Rusty) Rodgers, Jr. of Valdosta, and Robert Alan and Becky Roark Rodgers also of Valdosta; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Ted Wayne Rodgers, Jr. and a brother, Walter Ruark Rodgers.

The family of Ted Wayne Rodgers will receive friends on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow the visitation at the McLane Riverview Memorial Garden at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Jewish National Fund at JNF.ORG/TREES, or Hospice of South Georgia.
