T. N. Holcombe, Jr., 86, of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Valdosta on March 5, 1921 he was the son of the late Daisie W. and T.N. Holcombe, Sr. During World War II he served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater. Judge Holcombe was the Probate Judge for Lowndes County from 1949 until 1991, succeeding his father who had served as Probate Judge from 1915 through 1948. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Judge Holcombe was an avid golfer and a long time member of the Valdosta Country Club.
Surviving are his wife, Betty H. Holcombe of Valdosta; daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Allan Nagy of Valdosta, Ginger and Jed Dees of Savannah; a son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Mary Holcombe of Orange Park, Florida; grandchildren, Jodi and Jason Myddelton of Valdosta, Jay McDonald of Coolidge, Josh Bennett of Tampa, Florida, Sean Dees, Kristi Dees of Savannah, Carlo Bean, Katie Holcombe of Orange Park, Florida, Madalene Nagy of Nashville, Tennessee; six great grandchildren, three nieces.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2007, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Services will be conducted by Reverend Mac Weaver and Judge Mac McLane. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanefuneralservices.com.
