T. E. (Timothy E.) Bland, 93, of Clyattville died Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at Presbyterian Home in Quitman after a short illness. He was born on December 23, 1911 in Jennings, Florida to the late James David and Lillie Herring Bland and had lived in Lowndes County for sixty five years. Mr. Bland was a member of the Clyattville Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher of the Adult Class for many years. He had served on the Lowndes County Board of Education and the Lowndes County Farm Bureau. Mr. Bland was well beloved in his community for the sharing of his garden. He was a beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Survivors include two daughters and sons in law, Milbrey and Sanford Jones of Quitman, Montene and Joe Dozier of Thompson, GA., two sons and daughters in law, Doran and Peggy Bland of Clyattville, Ervin and Vicki Bland of Springfield, VA., 14-grandchildren, 21-great grandchildren and 1-great great grandchild, one brother, M. E. Bland of Jacksonville, Fla. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Herndon Bland and four brothers, Luther Bland, Jim Bland, Hiram Bland and Reuben Bland.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Thursday, May 12, 2005 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Jack Harris and Reverend Ron Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Benevolence Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
