Sylvia Anne Whigham

Sylvia Anne Whigham, 69, of Ellijay, died on Sunday, July 8, 2012 following a sudden illness at the Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was born on April 28, 1943 in Tampa, Florida to the late John P. and Welda Davis Whigham. She was a retired educator and a self-employed antiques dealer. Over the years, she volunteered with several libraries throughout the state some healthcare agencies. She was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Eli and Stephanie L. Mullis of Valdosta; a grandson, Benton Davis Mullis also of Valdosta; brothers, Joel Whigham, Stephen Whigham both of Eastman, Georgia, Michael Whigham of Watkinsville, Georgia; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Sylvia Anne Whigham will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 13, 2012 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. David Tart officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
