Sylvester Yarbrough

Sylvester "Buddy" Yarbrough, 88, of Valdosta died on Monday, December 20, 2010, at Holly Hill Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on January 10, 1922, and was the son of the late Thomas and Adline Aultman Yarbrough. Mr. Yarbrough was retired from the U.S. Navy where he served as a deep sea diver.

Survivors include a special sister-in-law, Wanda Thompson of Valdosta; a special nephew, Frankie Tyson of Valdosta; three grandchildren, Jason Yarbrough and Anna Yarbrough, both of Pavo, Georgia and Rocko Russell of Florida. Mr. Yarbrough was preceded in death by his wife Melba Yarbrough; a son, Blaine Yarbrough and a daughter, Brenda Yarbrough as well as brothers and sisters.

Graveside services and interment will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. William Warnock will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday from 11a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Carson McLane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
