Sybil B. Banks, 82, of Valdosta died on Sunday, October 14, 2012 in Hahira following a lengthy illness. She was born in Cottonwood, Alabama on June 21, 1930 to the late Charlie and Mittie Cunningham Brown. She has been a resident of Valdosta for more than 50 years. She had worked as a cook/hostess for Park Avenue United Methodist Church and had also been employed with Harvey's for a number of years. She attended Northside Baptist Church where she was active in her Sunday School Class and she loved to fish. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was dearly loved and will be missed by her family.
Survivors include a daughter, Becky Moody of Valdosta; 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Debbie Williams of Watkinsville, Georgia, Steve and Tammy Williams and Bill and Jenny Williams all of LaGrange, Georgia, Chuck and Janet Banks of Lake Park; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Susie and Charles Albritton of Leesburg, Georgia and a sister-in-law, Lula Vee Brown of Valdosta; a good friend and care-giver, Bea Folsom of Hahira; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Banks and several brothers and sisters.
Services for Sybil Banks will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Willis officiating. The burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
