Susan Byers

Susan Byers, 67, of Lake Park, passed away Monday, March 11, 2013, at South Georgia Medical Center after a courageous 13 year battle with cancer.

She was born October 15, 1945 in Emory, a daughter of the late Richard Arnold Hall and Bertie Lou Kilgore Hall. Susan was a member of Lake Park Christian Church, and for several years had been a teacher at LaPetite Daycare Center, Valdosta. She loved children, taking pictures and everything Disney.

She is survived by her husband, James Hoyt Byers of Lake Park; three daughters, Diana Queen and husband Kerry of Auburn, Tiffany Newell and husband Gary of Poquoson, VA, and Kristen Byers of Lake Park; five grandchildren, Searra and Stephanie Queen, Garrett and Hailey Newell, and Makenzie Byers; two step-grandchildren, Gary and Heidi Newell; her mother, Bertie Hall of Dasher; one sister, Sandy Hagan and husband Ed of Miami, FL; one brother, Richard Hall, Jr. of Lake Park.

The funeral service for Mrs. Byers will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home of Lake Park, with Rev. Aubrey Bussell and Dr. Henry Cannington officiating. Interment will follow at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
