Susan Bridges Cannington

Susan Bridges Cannington, 75, of Valdosta died Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Langdale Hospice House after a brief illness. She was born in Valdosta on August 17, 1935 to the late William Howard and Frances Harrell Bridges and was a lifelong resident of Valdosta. She attended Mercer University and graduated from Valdosta State College. Mrs. Cannington was a member of the Francis Lake Baptist Church and a retired teacher with the Valdosta City Schools having taught at Sallas-Mahone Elementary for twenty four years retiring in 1995.

Survivors include a daughter and son in law, Catherine and Stuart Moore of Valdosta, son and daughter in law, Howard and Dawn Slocumb of Homerville, two grandsons, David Moore and Stephen Moore both of Valdosta, sister and brother in law, Mary Jane and Earl Wetherington of Valdosta, sister in law and brother in law, Benita and Dick Hall of Valdosta, nephews, Rusty Wetherington and Bill Wetherington and many other extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry B. Cannington, Sr. and a brother, W. H. (Bud) Bridges.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, November 3, 2010 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Eldridge Lyons officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
