Sue Fletcher, 88, of Adel, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 10, 2011. She was born on November 8, 1922 in Dasher, Georgia to the late G.W. and Laura Dukes Rykard and has been a lifelong resident of this area. She was a joyful lady, mother, and friend who never met a stranger. Sue loved to sew and could turn any material into a beautiful finished outfit. She also enjoyed, the outdoors, working in the yard, planting flowers and sharing them with others. She had plenty of love and a smile with laughter for those around her. She was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Adel.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Ogburn of Donaldsonville ; sons and daughters-in-law, Claude, Jr. and Lou Fletcher of Valdosta, Andy and Katrina Fletcher of Hahira, Randy and Suzy Fletcher of Toccoa, Tony and Elizabeth Fletcher of Douglas, Joe Fletcher of Valdosta; grandchildren and their spouses, Brent Fletcher, Brandi and Chad Pearce, Kris Fletcher, Kirk Fletcher, Sloane Fletcher, Alex Fletcher, Madelyn Fletcher, Steven and Sue Ogburn; two great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Tyler Ogburn; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude George Fletcher, Sr.
Services for Sue Fletcher will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Eldridge Lyons officiating. The burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
