Sue Ann Rehberg Hardin

Sue Ann Rehberg Hardin, 74, of Valdosta died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on March 28, 1939 in Valdosta to the late Edwin Alfonso and Ethel Arnold Rehberg. A lifelong resident of Valdosta she retired from the Personnel Department at South Georgia Medical Center after twenty eight and a half years of service, where she held the positions of Administrative Assistant, Personnel Assistant and Benefits Coordinator. Mrs. Hardin graduated from Valdosta High School and Perry Business College and attended many classes in Learning in Retirement at Valdosta State University and attended Valdosta Technical College.

She was a past member of Valdosta Business and Professional Organization, where she held numerous offices including two terms as President and during which time was a nominee for Woman of the Year. She was a member of the Camellia Garden Club where she was previously first vice president and currently serving as President and recently won Blue Ribbon table design at the Valdosta Garden Center Spring Flower Show at the Crescent. She was a member of the Valdosta Literary Guild, Readers Review, and Wymodausis where she held the Office of Corresponding Secretary, Red Hat Society where she held the office of Vice Mother, United Daughters of the Confederacy Captain James Monroe Briggs #2582, Second Vice President, Daughters of the American Revolution Colonel Ebenezer Folsom Chapter 3120-GA, and a Silver Star with Triple Crown Hometown at The Chamber of Commerce and several bridge clubs. Mrs. Hardin served on the executive board for the Woman's Building and The Garden Club, Inc. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she served on the "We Care" and "C.D." committees and the John Langdale Sunday School Class where she was the Social Chairman. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and helping better the community in which she has always lived. She enjoyed playing bridge, helping in her church and volunteering in community affairs.

Survivors include her husband, Dupont Fomby Hardin, Sr. of Valdosta, daughter and son in law, Trena Sheree and Bill Yeomans of Quitman, two sons and a daughter in law, Dupont Fomby, Jr. and Katie Hardin of Quitman, Edwin Dirk Hardin of Valdosta, six grandchildren, Lew Thompson, Amber Thompson, Kathryn Ann Hardin and her fiancé, Jonathan Surrency, Haleigh Hope Hardin, Edwin Dirk (D.J.) Hardin, Jr., Hollee J. Hardin, two step grandchildren, Noah Buehrer and Melinda (Travis) Brown, two step great grandchildren, Sam Brown and Cheyenne Brown. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mona Celest Hardin and a brother, Edwin Al Rehberg, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, May 11, 2013 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Benny Olliff officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
