Steven Clyde Atkins, 62, of Quitman, died on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. Born in Valdosta on February 1, 1951, he was the son of Mable Joyce Seymour Atkins, and the late Clyde Maynard Atkins. He was a self employed painter and enjoyed refinishing antique furniture and camping. Steven served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.
Survivors are his wife, Deborah Atkins of Quitman; a son and daughter in law, Steven Scott and Angela Atkins, grandson, Zachary Scott Atkins of Valdosta; his mother, Mable S. Atkins of Valdosta; brother and sister in law, Ricky Norman and Kathy Atkins of Alexandria, VA.; a sister, Debbie Atkins of Valdosta.
Graveside memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery in Lake Park. Dr. Henry Cannington will officiate. Condolences may be conveyed online att www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
