Steve Whaley

Steve Whaley, 63, of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at South Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Homerville, Georgia, on May 21, 1946, he was the son of the late James Clifford and Lois Estelle Whaley. Mr. Whaley worked for Georgia Natural Gas for 35 years. He was a Christian. An avid outdoorsman and sportsman, he loved to hunt and fish with his friends. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and Atlanta Falcon Football. In earlier years he raced at Thunderbowl Raceway. Mr. Whaley had a fanatical love for his dog "Foots".

Survivors are his wife, Louise Harnage Whaley of Valdosta; daughters and sons-in-law, Gina and Rodney Middleton of Hoboken; Miranda and Thong Lott of Valdosta; son, Cliff Whaley of Valdosta; grandchildren, Lauren, Lindsey and Logan Lott of Valdosta, Triston, Alex and Payton Middleton of Hoboken; sister, Patsy Whaley of Americus; two special friends, Paul Chancey and Damon Chancey; numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law. Mr. Whaley was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Louise Whaley.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Sister Nancy Morgan and Reverend Keith Chancey will officiate. Burial will follow at Good Hope Cemetery.
