Steve Myddelton, 62, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at his home. Born in Jacksonville, Florida on October 10, 1947, Steve graduated form Waycross High School and attended the University of Georgia. He had made his home in Valdosta since 1966 and worked the next ten years with his Dad, Jake Myddelton, at Valdosta Monument Company. He spent the next 20 years working as an Independent Certified Life Insurance Underwriter before joining his wife Sheila, in her business venture, Plantation Shutter and Blind. Steve and Sheila worked together for over twelve years. Steve was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Jim Trice Sunday School Class, and a charter member of the Valdosta North Rotary Club. Steve loved God, family, friends and fishing.
Survivors are his wife, Sheila Myddelton of Valdosta; son, Stephen Myddelton of Crestview, Florida; son and daughter in law, Jason and Jodi Myddelton of Valdosta; daughter and son in law, Joy and Brent Moye of Fayetteville; his mother, Marion Myddelton of Valdosta; grandchildren, J.C. and Hailey Myddelton of Crestview, Florida; Hayden and Emily Moye of Fayettville, Thomas and Alden Myddelton of Valdosta; sister and brother in law, Elaine and Jim Burrows of Moultrie; brother and sister in law, Jimmy and Jeane Myddelton of Tallahassee, Florida; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Jake Myddelton.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2010, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church. Dr. Bob Moon will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5 -7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jim Trice Sunday School Class c/o First United Methodist Church of Valdosta.
