Stephen (Steve) A. Chitty, Iii

Stephen (Steve) A. Chitty, III, 69, of Valdosta died Thursday, September 11, 2008 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on Feburary 20, 1939 in Valdosta to the late Stephen A., Jr. and Mittie Hayes Chitty and was a lifelong resident of Valdosta. Mr. Chitty was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a 1957 graduate of Valdosta High School where he played football and baseball and was also a graduate of Valdosta State College where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Mr. Chitty was retired from C & S National Bank and Commerical Banking Company. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lorna Lee Steele Chitty.

Survivors include his daughter and son in law, Lorna Kern and Stan Price of Newnan, two sons and daughters in law, Jacob Gwin and Caryn Chitty of Albany and Stephen A., IV and Kimberly Chitty of St. Simons, six grandchildren, one brother and sister in law, Ray and Pat Chitty of Valdosta, one sister and brother in law, Gayle and Bruce Jones of Albany.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, September 14, 2008 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. David Tart officiating. Entombment will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
