Stephen Lee Gay

Stephen Lee Gay, 69, of Valdosta died Sunday, November 15, 2020 at his home after a short illness. He was born in Valdosta on August 30, 1951, the son of the late Robert L. Gay and the late Minnie Ruth Dennis Goodwin and was a lifelong resident of Valdosta. Stephen served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was retired from TSG Industries. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lake Park. Stephen enjoyed fishing and hunting, football and spending time with family. He loved God, his family and his country.

Survivors include two sons and daughter in law, Shaun and Tasha Gay, Stephen Gay, Jr. all of Valdosta; three grandchildren, Sarah Gay, Colt Gay, Anna Arnold; three step children and spouses, Tim and Jeannie Morris of Tifton, Sandy and Wayne Hamby of Lake Park, Gary and Jessica Moore of Valdosta; nine step grandchildren, Austin, Laklin, Gage and Ethan Morris, Phillip, Taylor and Colton Hamby, Madison and Haley Moore; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, six brothers and five sisters in law, Mickey and Narna Gay, Jeannie Dixon, David and Linda Sue Gay, Chris Gay, Christine Gay, Wesley and Ruthie Gay, Jimmy and Kelley Gay, Greg and Robin Gay; numerous uncles and aunts, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and an abundance of cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Wanda Moore Gay, both his parents Robert L. Gay, Minnie Ruth Goodwin and step-father, Reid Goodwin.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Calvary Baptist Church in Lake Park with Pastor Robbie Harrington officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Lake Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 19, 2020 from 6-8pm at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park.
