Stanley R. "Stan" Pate, 54, of Valdosta, GA, formerly of Lafayette, LA, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at his home.
He was born February 24, 1959 in Coushatta, LA, son of the late Robert Lewis and Nez Perkins Pate. Stan was a member of First Baptist Church of Lafayette and recently attended First Baptist Church of Valdosta.
Stan attended Lafayette High School, and earned his Bachelor's of Science in Geology from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Stan was a salesman in the oilfield. In his spare time, Stan enjoyed spending time with his family, most importantly, his two sons. Stan's hobbies included fishing, hunting, golfing, cooking, and hosting. Stan was the man.
Stan is survived by two sons, Gabriel Pate of Tulsa, OK, and Joshua Pate of Baton Rouge, LA; a sister and brother-in-law, Renee and Mark Smith of Valdosta; a nephew, Trevor Smith and wife Stephanie, and their son Luke, of Alpharetta, GA; and a niece, Brittany Smith of Valdosta.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, February 9th, at 2 o'clock in the Chapel of First Baptist Church of Lafayette. Luther Burney, Assistant to the Pastor, will be officiating.
