Sonya Kae Herring

Mrs. Sonya Kae Herring, age 57, of Valdosta, GA, passed away December 19, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at home following a brief illness. Born September 17, 1967, in Parkersburg, WV, to the late Harold and Judith Lawson, Sonya had a passion for people and animals, never meeting a stranger. Most of all, she loved being a wife and mother to her family. She received her LPN certification but found her professional calling in the hospitality industry, working as manager at Damon’s, Longhorn, and Texas Roadhouse prior to finding her perfect role at Mom and Dad’s Italian. Her spare time was often spent painting, crafting, and baking. She was a member of the Northside Baptist Church in Valdosta, GA. 

Sonya is survived by her loving husband, Mike and children Sarah Herring Bell (Charlie), Hannah Herring, Rebekah “Gracie” Johnson (Joey), Eli Herring, and granddaughter Lily Johnson. She is also survived by sisters YaVonda Sheppard (Gary), Vanessa Spencer (Jeff), several nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her brother Harold Lawson, Jr.

A celebration of Sonya’s life will be conducted Monday, December 23, 2024, in the Carson McLane Funeral Home Chapel, Valdosta, GA. The family will receive visitors from 1-2 pm with a 2 pm service performed by pastor Robbie Foster.
