Shirley Taylor

Shirley Stalvey Taylor, 80, of Hahira, passed away at home on Thursday, November 24, 2022, after a long illness with dementia. She had been a lifelong, faithful and devout member of Hahira First Baptist Church. Shirley worked for Star Insurance for 45 years. Mrs. Taylor graduated from Hahira High School in1960 and was a distinguished student. She loved and was devoted to her family. She will be missed immensely by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 60 years, Lester (Sonny) S. Taylor of Hahira; her son, Scott Taylor and his wife, Denise of Huntsville, Alabama; her son, Alan Taylor and his wife, Traci of Hahira; her daughter, Mitzi Taylor Cain and her husband, Jason of Hahira, Georgia; 8 grandchildren, Jordan Taylor, Calie Taylor Smith (Ted), Cameron Cain (Haley), Courtney Cain Radney (Dustin), Regan Taylor Cason (Gabe), Jasey Cain Evans (Seth),Austin Taylor and Luke Carney, 13 great grandchildren, Lana Rae, Stella Kate, Davis, James Wallace and Colby Taylor, Palmer and Jensen Smith, Colt Cain, Ella Claire and Courson Radney, John Hughes and Hampton Cason and Sadie Evans. Mrs. Taylor is also survived by her brother, Johnny Stalvey of Hahira and sister Dianne Stalvey Wright of Valdosta; sister-in-law and her husband, Jan Taylor Quist and Ken of Tulsa, Oklahoma and brother in law, Jim Plaire of Valdosta, many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, E.J. Stalvey and Clara Newton Stalvey, seven brothers, Buford Stalvey, Lamar Stalvey, Harry Stalvey, Lonnie Stalvey, Jackie Stalvey, Gerald Stalvey, and three sisters Dorothy Stalvey Avera, Mary Helen Stalvey Blackwell and Linda Stalvey Plaire.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, November 27, 2022 at two p. m. at Hahira First Baptist Church with Pastor David Gordon and Mr. Brant Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at Martin McLane Funeral home in Hahira. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Hospice of South Georgia, P. O. Box 1727, Valdosta, GA 31603 or Hahira First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 555, Hahira, GA 31632.
