Shirley Lieupo, 64, of Valdosta, died on Monday, March 29, 2010 at South Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born in Valdosta on August 22, 1945 to the late James W., Sr. and Golla Bell Coody Barrett. She was retired from the Lowndes County School system and was a member of the Pentecostal Deliverance Center. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Penny and Robert Thomas of Lake Park and Shelley Lieupo of Valdosta; a son and his fiancée, Johnny Lieupo and Casey Birdwell of Valdosta; a son, Lonnie Lieupo of Lake Park; a daughter and son-in-law, Midge and Randy Bright of Valdosta; grandchildren, Chelsea Register, Levoy Register, Hayden Thomas, Seth Thomas, Barrett Lieupo, Avery Mullins, Landace Lieupo, Paisley Watford, and Madison Birdwell; sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Larry Bennett of Stockton; a brother, James Barrett, a brother and sister-in-law, William and Judy Barrett, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Marcell Gaskins and Virginia and Foster Fletcher all of Lowndes County; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Goodson.
Services for Shirley Lieupo will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Edgar Wood officiating. The burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
