Shirley Hughes, 64, of Lake Park died on Saturday, June 24, 2006 at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness. Born in Clinch County, she attended Clinch County Schools and was a lifelong resident of South Georgia. She owned and operated the Farmhouse Restaurant in Lake Park with her husband Harold Hughes.
In addition to her husband, other survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Dennis Brady of Matwanna, N.J.; one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Stephanie Hughes of Jacksonville, Fl.; two granddaughters, Nicole Brady and Sarah Hughes; one sister and brother-in-law, Ernestine and Lawrence Zeigler of Mayday, Ga.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Maureen Bennett of Falmouth, MA and Bill and Doris Bennett of Stockton, Ga.; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her parents, James and Elma Stone Bennett and her brothers, Pat Bennett, Grover Bennett and Douglas Bennett.
Funeral Services for Shirley Hughes will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home with Mr. J.C. McMullen and Rev. Mickey Corbett officiating. Burial will follow in the Wayfare Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home.
