Shirley Ann Miller Eckwahl, 43, of Valdosta died Monday, May 3, 2010 at her home. She was born on February 10, 1967 in Misawa, Japan and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Mrs. Eckwahl was a Baptist and a Registered Nurse on 5 West at South Georgia Medical Center for nineteen years. She was a graduate of Lowndes High School and a 1991 graduate of the Valdosta State College Nursing Program. She was recently awarded the Excellence in Nursing from South Georgia Medical Center. Mrs. Eckwahl enjoyed caring for her children and family, was known for her smile, and her dedication and compassion for both her patients and her coworkers.
Survivors include her husband, Tyler B. Eckwahl, two sons, Ean Eckwahl and Andrew Eckwahl, her parents, Robert and Barbara Miller, stepchildren and their spouses, Jacob and Lisa Eckwahl, Heather and Brock Yommer, stepgrandchildren, Parker Trouille, Addison Yommer, Jenna Yommer, Gage Eckwahl and Stone Eckwahl and numerous co-workers and friends from South Georgia Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm, Saturday, May 8, 2010 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Schappaugh officiating. Burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
