Sherman B Votaw, 86, of Valdosta, died Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at VA Hospital in Lake City, Florida following an lengthy illness. He was born in Washington County KY, October 29, 1926 to the late Frank Votaw and Ada Sims Votaw. He was a retired United States Airforce Veteran with over 25 years of service and member of Bemiss Road Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rosa Staton Votaw, of Valdosta; a daughter, Debra Dart of Valdosta; two sons, Joel Votaw (Wendy) of New Hebron, MS; Jerrell Votaw (Marsha) of Warnsberg, MO; two granddaughters, Amanda Dart and Kimberlee Dart both of Valdosta, 7 grandsons, Michael Chaney of Decatur; Chris Chaney of Valdosta, Lance Votaw, Evan Votaw, and Scott Votaw, all of New Hebron, MS; Justin Votaw and Kevin Votaw of Warrensburg, MO; and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Velma Patterson of Harrodsburg, KY. He was predeceased in death by a daughter Gloria Gayle Votaw.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2013, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Dr. Danny Edwards officiating. Interment following in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, August 17, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.
