Shelby Jean Atkins

Shelby Jean Atkins, 70, of Valdosta, died Monday, April 21, 2008 at her residence. She was born on October 9, 1937 in Aberdeen, North Carolina to the late David Newton and Cleonus Bowling Jones. Mrs. Atkins was a homemaker and a member of Bemiss Road Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Sammie S. Atkins of Lakeland, one son, Sammy S. Atkins, Jr. of Valdosta, one daughter and son in law, Robin S. and Wayne Gober of Douglas, two grandchildren, Cori Gober and Robby Gober, three sisters, Grace Jones Sides and Betty Ellen Troutman of Aberdeen, North Carolina, Geraldine Dalton of Raeford, North Carolina, one brother, David Jones, Jr. of Aberdeen, North Carolina.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, May 18, 2008 at two p. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Albert Gober and Martha McMillan officiating.
