Sheila M. Cannister, 76, of Valdosta, died on Monday, March 29, 2021, at Langdale Hospice House. Born in Curtiss, Wisconsin on October 18, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Carol Johnson Bochnia. Known for her sour cream pound cake, Sheila enjoyed baking. She loved to eat out and was a real fan of the television show “Gun Smoke”. Sheila adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. She had worked as a cashier for Publix.
Survivors are her husband, Johnny F. Cannister of Valdosta; her children, Donald (Stefani) Holton of Greenwood, South Carolina, Elaine (Ovidio) Santistevan of Davenport, Florida; Doug Holton of Lake Park; Paul (Tracy) Cannister of Hahira, Jessica (Daniel) Davis of Scott AFB, Illinois, Mathew (Emily) Cannister of Gainesville, Florida; grandchildren, Andrew Holton, Alex Holton, Kelsey Holton, Dustin Holton, Elizabeth Cannister, Ava Cannister, Anna Cannister, Dale Davis, Oliver Cannister; a great grandson, Connor Holton; brothers, Edwin (Sandy) Bochnia, Frederick (Mildred) Bochnia and a sister, Mary Ann Johnson.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, April 3, 2021, at 11 a.m. in the chapel at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home at Lake Park. Brother Aaron Kight and Mr. Clayton Freeman will officiate. Burial will follow at Lake Park City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Lakewood on Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Church of Clyattville, 5311 Railroad Street, Valdosta, GA 31601.
