Shayna Shapiro Garland

Shayna Shapiro Garland, 41, of Suwannee, Georgia and formerly of Valdosta, passed away on April 15, 2014. Born in Bradenton, Florida, on October 31, 1972, Shayna was a 1990 graduate of Valdosta High School. She attended Florida State University and graduated from Valdosta State University in 1994. Following college she began working in the family business and soon moved to the Atlanta area where she worked in Real Estate for several years. Shayna was very involved in her children's interests, volunteering with her daughter's cheerleading and her son's baseball team and other sports activities. She enjoyed working in her community and helping with the High Hope Heart Event in Buford, Georgia.
Survivors are her daughter, Ansley Merritt Garland and her son, Pierce David Garland of Suwannee; her parents, Carl and Barbara Shapiro, brother, Micah Shapiro, sister in law, Ashley Shapiro, nieces, Madison Shapiro, Emma Shapiro, nephew, Craig Shapiro all of Valdosta; many aunts, uncles and cousins in the George and Shapiro family and many caring friends. Shayna was preceded in death by her grandparents, Carlo and Sadie George, David and Lucy Shapiro.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 18, 2014, at eleven a.m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Rabbi Moshe Elbaz will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
