Sharon Dorminey Hughes, 59, of Valdosta died on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Big Bend Hospice of Tallahassee. Sharon was born in Valdosta on February 16, 1961 to the late Clifford and Martha Mitchell Dorminey and has been a lifelong resident here. She was a homemaker and a member of Abundant Life Church of God.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Hughes of Valdosta; her children, Joseph Brownfield, Jr. of Maryland, Elizabeth Silva of Virginia, Christina and James Dearman of Valdosta, and Katelyn Hughes of Statesboro; her grandchildren, Hayleigh Silva and Brianna Dearman; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Charlene Dorminey of Valdosta, and Jackie and David Tribout of Missouri; sister, Janice McGraw of Atlanta and many other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Hershel Dorminey, and Morris E. Dorminey
Services for Sharon Hughes will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 12, 2020 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Hughes and Rev. Andy Pearson officiating. The burial will follow in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
